Hog Roast Motor

Thank you for your interest in our hogroast drive. The gearbox has a hollow 18mm diameter output shaft with keyway, so you then have 2 alternatives. You can have a steel shaft made the total length you want, say 25mm diameter, with one end machined down to 18mm x 75mm length with a standard 6mm keyway along its length (75mm). This will then go straight into the gearbox hollow output shaft giving you a fixed speed of about 5.5 rpm on the shaft.

Alternatively, you can fit the output shaft that I supply with the unit which will then give you a solid shaft to fix a sprocket onto. This will allow you to fit the drive unit lower down in the hogroast frame which keeps it cooler. I supply a 3:1 ratio chain drive which will reduce the shaft speed to about 1.8rpm therefore allowing you to accommodate a larger animal because of the addition torque generated by the lower speed (3 times more powerful). I sell this chain drive for £45 inc VAT. You would get 2 sprockets, 2 taper lock bushes and 1 metre of chain with connecting link.
